Leading Turkish accounting and financial consulting firm Arkan & Ergin has joined international network RSM, bringing a 60-plus year pedigree and over 180 local partners and staff.
Mid-tier accounting and consulting network RSM has signed up a new member firm in Turkey; Arkan & Ergin, which has a heritage dating back to the middle of last century. Set to rebrand as RSM Turkey, the Istanbul-based firm boasts a headcount of 16 partners and over 160 employees providing services in audit, tax, corporate finance, outsourced accounting and digital consultancy among other specialist areas.
“I am delighted to welcome the team from Arkan & Ergin to the RSM family,” said global CEO Jean Stephens. “Arkan & Ergin is a highly successful practice with global links and internationally recognised quality standards, so it is an ideal fit with RSM’s own growth ambitions. The firm will play a critical role in the RSM network continuing to support clients with complex cross-border regulatory requirements.”
Arkan & Ergin was established in Turkey’s largest city and business centre in 1952, with former Ministry of Finance officers Refik Arkan and Cihat Kumusoglu joining in later years to found the modern firm – which ranks consistently in the top ten accountancy-heritage professional services firms in the country.
According to RSM, the company’s senior management holds extensive international experience, with training undertaken around the world. “We are proud of Arkan & Ergin’s 60-year history, as well as our diverse, globally-minded, specialist team,” said Kumusoglu.
“We have built close relationships with our clients, relationships which in many cases span generations and borders. Joining the RSM network marks an exciting stage in our growth journey, and we look forward to working closely with other RSM firms and maintaining our proud legacy.”
In expanding its global network to Turkey, RSM pointed to a local export-led economic boom which is opening up new avenues for growth in the country, along with the nation’s strategic position as a gateway to three continents. Accordingly, Arkan & Ergin was last year targeting double-digit growth, with an eye on emerging opportunities in the automotive, construction, energy, logistics and textiles sectors.
“Turkey’s economic growth has presented new opportunities for middle market businesses in the region who are regaining a foothold and bouncing back after the impact of the pandemic,” concluded Stephens, who said Arkan & Ergin was well aligned with RSM’s vision. “It is critical that these businesses have access to on-the-ground, trusted and expert advice to capitalise on these opportunities and accelerate their growth.
